How Mugen IE Lab collects, uses and protects your personal data.

Last updated 3 August 2026

This policy explains what data Mugen IE Lab collects when you use our website or our plugins, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

Who we are

Mugen IE Lab is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question, contact legal@mugenielab.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Purchase details — name, email and billing country, collected by our payment processor when you buy a licence.
  • Account details — email address and a password hash, if you create an account.
  • Support correspondence — anything you send us when you contact support.
  • Newsletter subscription — email address and optional first name, only if you subscribe.

Information collected automatically

  • Licence activation data — a machine fingerprint and the plugin version, sent when you activate a licence. This enforces the activation limit and nothing else.
  • Update checks — the plugin may ask our server whether a newer version exists. This sends the current version number only.
  • Server logs — IP address, user agent and requested URL, retained for a short period for security and abuse prevention.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your audio, your project files, your presets or anything else about what you make. Plugins do not transmit audio anywhere, ever.

We do not store your card details. Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor.

Who we share it with

We share the minimum necessary with service providers who act on our instructions:

  • Netlify — website hosting and delivery.
  • Our email provider — transactional and newsletter email.

We never sell your personal data, and we never share it for anyone else's marketing.

International transfers

Some providers are outside the UK and EEA. Where that is the case, transfers are covered by adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you may request access to your data, correction of it, erasure of it, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing. You may also withdraw consent for marketing at any time.

Cookies

Our website uses only what is strictly necessary to function. We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics that profile you across sites. If we add analytics in future, it will be a privacy-respecting, cookie-free option and this policy will be updated first.

Security

Data is transmitted over TLS. Secrets and credentials are held in encrypted environment storage and never exposed to the browser. Download links are time-limited and signed. Access to customer data is restricted to those who need it.

Our products are not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
